The Ariel Duo unites two talented and versatile musicians, specializing in both classical and jazz music. Their richly diverse repertoire comprises transcripts of Bach to arrangements of music by the Beatles. For intimate musical settings, the darker and warmer tone of the wooden flute interwoven with the classical guitar adds elegance to your memorable occasion. Variably, the inclusion of clarinet or saxophone provides just the right flavor to Klezmer or bossa nova pieces.

Since the age of twenty-two, Michael has served as an orchestral saxophonist for the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops Orchestras. Performing as a saxophone soloist with orchestras around the world, Michael regularly performs professionally as a clarinetist and flutist. Michael has also appeared as a guest on radio including  performances on WGBH (Boston), WFMT (Chicago), Radio Moscow, KBS (Korean Broadcasting Service) and Radio Television Hong Kong.

Michael’s compact discs are on the ASV (United Kingdom), Black Lion, Sony (Boston Pops), New World and CRI recording labels. As an active arranger, over 75 of his works for saxophone, clarinet, oboe and bassoon have been published by Theodore Presser, Masters Music (Kalmus) and Mel Bay. His book, Extended Technique for the Saxophone is widely recognized as a major work on contemporary performance techniques.

John received his Bachelor of Arts from the Berklee College of Music. John is the principal guitar teacher for the Capachione School of Performing Arts, and also teaches private guitar lessons. His original works for the guitar are available on the recording, "Fingerpainting". He is also an active chamber musician, performing as guitarist on a variety of music and film projects.
